COMPUTER HARDWARE VS SOFTWARE
Have you ever wondered how our computer works and what is inside? Let's find out what's inside our PC. A computer, sometimes known as a PC, is made up of both hardware and software. What exactly are they? Let me explain shortly. Hardware is the physical equipment that comprises a computer system, whereas software is a set of instructions that the hardware executes to do a specific task for you.
We can divide hardware into six (6) categories, which are as
follows:
Input devices: These are devices used to insert or enter
information and commands—for example, a mouse, webcam, keyboard, microphone,
and scanner.
Output devices: view, hear or identify the results of
information processing requests. Monitor, speaker, printer, and projector are
some examples.
Storage devices: to store data in magnetic, optical,
electronic, or flash formats. Hard disc drive (HDD), solid-state drive (SSD),
diskette or floppy disc, digital video disc (DVD), compact disc (CD), secure
digital (SD) card, flash drive, or thumb drive are some examples.
Processing units: grouped into two subcategories: central
processing unit (CPU) and random access memory (RAM). The CPU is the hardware
that reads, executes software, and organizes all hardware, such as the Intel
Core i7 and AMD Ryzen 7. RAM, such as Corsair 32 GB DDR4 RAM, temporarily
stores memory for the information and software.
Telecommunications devices: such as access point, modem,
router, switch, and hub, send and receive data from other people or computers
in a network.
Connecting devices: connect peripherals to your computers such as cables or wires, ports, expansion boards (sound card, network interface card, and video card).
Following that, we will learn computer software. There are
two types of software: system software and application software. System
software is used to conduct technology administration activities and coordinate
the interactions of all technology devices. The two (2) primary system software
forms are operating system (OS) software and utility software. Application
software allows you to address specific problems or accomplish particular
tasks.
Aside from that, we have productivity software, vertical and horizontal market software. Word processing, spreadsheets, and presentations are examples of productivity software. It can also be a software suite that includes numerous applications (usually productivity software). Vertical market software is application software for a specific industry, such as patient scheduling and restaurant management software. On the other hand, horizontal market software applies to a wide range of businesses, including payroll, inventory, and billing or invoicing.
